What are the pros and cons of conducting an employee survey during a bad economy?

-       Pros
. A survey can reassure the employees: the company does not forget them and shows them that it is still present even in a bad time
. The employees can express what they expect from their company in such a period
. They can feel more involved in the company life
. This is a way for the company of showing that it has values and that it is transparent: it dares facing the problems and is not afraid of the employees’ point of view

-       Cons
. Some employees can find this hypocritical: it can be badly interpreted
. A survey can be considered as intrusive in the employees’ life
. The employees can be badly influenced by the crisis period and not answer very honestly
